Our favourite winter riding coats and winter riding breeches
The importance of good winter riding coats and breeches
When you’re out riding in winter there is nothing worse than feeling cold and miserable! Instead of enjoying your ride, you’re just desperate to get home and get inside. So don’t suffer through the cold or wet this winter! A good winter riding coat, winter breeches and waterproofs can make all the difference. We’ve got a selection of great winter equestrian wear that not only offer you protection from the elements and warmth, but also feel and look good too. Here are some of our favourites.
Great winter riding breeches
Harcour Frida fleece lined technical breeches are the perfect winter breeches. Snuggly fleece-lined and water repellent! They are ideal for outdoor riding in cold or wet weather. They are also made from fabric featuring "Rider Stretch" innovation, specially designed to adapt to the rider's movements. Warm and very comfy.
Alternatively, if you’re riding in a competition, consider three-quarter length Animo Mogol Unisex Waterproof Over Trousers. Fully waterproof & windproof with side-zip closures & Velcro tabs to keep extreme weather out in & out of the saddle!
Warm winter riding jackets and riding coats
A long insulated riding coat offers the ultimate in comfort and warmth. But we love the extra little details that the Kingsland Equestrian’s Siriol Ladies Insulated Riding Coat provides. Not only does it keep your whole body toasty but the fabric is waterproof. Both sides benefit from a split with a zipper opening that allows you to give yourself room in the saddle and then zip back up to keep snug on the ground. It features a detachable hood with a reflective logo for extra safety in the dark evenings.
If you’re after something shorter then the Pikeur Mina jacket in Scarlette Red is a real statement piece! It is made from a special fibre filling that is really warm but does not add any bulk to become unflattering like a lot of warm coats!
Or go for the Kingsland Alys Ladies insulated jacket. With a large, cozy collar and a two-way NYGUARD zipper, this short, insulated winter riding jacket boasts panels for a flattering, feminine fit and zipper pockets for your phone and valuables. It look elegant both on and off the horse!
A decent winter riding raincoat is a must. Look for taped seams, a decent length and details like an elasticated bottom, and most importantly – ventilated panels – so you don’t overheated or get sweaty. You’ll find all this in the Kingsland Lian unisex rainjacket.
